The Sound Archives at Palazzo Malagola in Ravenna have been made permanently accessible, presenting a curated multimedia collection of recordings, videos and documents focused on voice and sound in performance. The installation is designed for both public visits and scholarly research, with dedicated listening environments.
The holdings feature works by prominent national and international vocal and performance artists, alongside historical drawings and archival materials that enrich the monument’s cultural context. The centre combines conservation, research and educational activities, strengthening the site’s role as a hub for vocal studies and scenography.
The archive is suitable for visitors, practitioners and researchers: the exhibition aims to restore the spatial quality of vocal performances and to highlight the relationship between the performer’s body and the listener. For group visits, educational programmes or research enquiries, contact the centre to arrange guided activities.
