Footprints on the Sand: opening and exhibition overview

The exhibition Footprints on the Sand opens on Saturday 28 March at 17:00 at Galleria Pescheria in Cesena. Works by Giampaolo Parrilla and Matteo Gobbo, curated by Bianca Basile, will be on display until 3 May 2026. Admission is free.

Theme and approach

This project gives visual form to the experiences of people with migration backgrounds who live and work along the Romagna coast in sectors such as tourism, agriculture, construction, catering and personal care. Through interviews and participatory workshops, the artists transform first‑hand testimonies into landscapes and images that reveal social invisibility and marginalization.

Using pastel palettes and the relaxed tempo of the seaside, the works propose a decolonial gaze and emphasize personal storytelling as a political act. The show aims to create public space for listening and to encourage collective awareness about social margins.
