Free open days at the Historic Palace of the Air Force Schools Command in Bari

To mark the 103rd anniversary of the Air Force, the historic Palace of the Command Schools / 3rd Air Region in Bari will open to visitors on Saturday 28 March 2026 and Sunday 29 March 2026. Admission is free but requires prior registration.

The guided visit, led by Air Force staff, blends history, culture and architecture. The palace is an important example of Bari's rationalist architecture from the 1930s and preserves furnishings, painted panels and documents that trace the development of military aviation and its ties to the local area.

• Highlights:
  • the historic monumental façade in rationalist style;
  • the "Rosa dei Venti" mosaic in the garden;
  • the representative halls of the Officers' Club;
  • the historic offices of the Commander and Deputy Commander with 1930s painted panels;
  • a video-photographic exhibition with historical anecdotes;
  • a model aircraft exhibition organized by the Club Modellismo Plastico Ravenna – Bari section.

Opening hours: 09:00–19:00 (last group departs at 18:30) on both days.

How to book: admission is free but registration must be completed online by Thursday 26 March 2026 at 12:00. After registering you will receive a QR code (downloadable or printable) that must be shown at the entrance to access the palace.

Charity initiative: the open day will host the solidarity project "A gift from the sky" to raise funds for pediatric medical equipment for hospitals including the Giovanni XXIII Pediatric Hospital in Bari.
