On the 800th anniversary of the Canticle of the Creatures, Certosa di Firenze presents an exhibition featuring works by Serena Nono and Nicola Golea, inspired by the poetic composition of St. Francis of Assisi. The show is installed in the evocative Sala della Pinacoteca di Pontormo and offers a contemporary artistic reading of the Franciscan text.
The exhibited works include portraits, figures and landscapes that evoke the spirituality and the close relationship with nature central to the Canticle. The display highlights the dialogue between contemporary art and mystical tradition, emphasizing praise as a form of connection with creation.
The exhibition also recalls St. Francis' historical presence in Florence and his influence on Italian spirituality. Through visual and textual references, the itinerary links the saint's figure to notable mystics who shaped the country's cultural and spiritual heritage.
The exhibition is a timely opportunity to engage with St. Francis' spiritual legacy through contemporary visual languages. Recommended for visitors interested in sacred art, modern painting and the history of Italian mysticism.
