Nine young Europeans in Morigerati for "Morigerati Rural Lab 2026"

The European Solidarity Corps camp titled "Morigerati Rural Lab 2026", organized by ACARBIO, started on April 9 in Morigerati (Salerno) and runs through May 31. Nine volunteers from across Europe are engaged in activities supporting the local community and in efforts to foster more sustainable tourism in the Cilento hinterland.

The initiative focuses on three main areas:

• Community support: intergenerational solidarity activities to reduce social isolation and encourage cultural exchange;
• Environmental enhancement: improving accessibility and maintenance of natural trails and local landscape heritage;
• Tackling depopulation: international promotion of the area and creating opportunities to encourage staying or returning to the territory.

ACARBIO president Vincenzo Sannino said the aim is to show that internal areas "are alive, attractive and able to generate a future." Morigerati's mayor, Guido Florenzano, welcomed the volunteers as a cultural and social boost for the community and an opening toward Europe.

The project is part of a broader international cooperation path to promote social innovation and sustainability in the rural communities of the Cilento.
