European Night of Museums 2026 at Sapienza: practical info and highlights

On Saturday 23 May 2026 Sapienza University of Rome turns its campus into a cultural hub: 17 museums will be accessible to the public with temporary exhibitions, performances, concerts, seminars and activities for children. Admission is free.

Highlights

  • Museum of Etruscan and Italic Antiquities – opening of the exhibition "Etruscan Blue, Etruscan Gold" at 18:00 followed by an evening performance-concert.
  • Museum of Classical Art – exhibition "La calma assente. Peace and war in ancient Greece" and a concert by the MuSa Blues ensemble from 20:00.
  • MLAC (Museum-Laboratory of Contemporary Art) – Italian retrospective on Alì Assaf with a curator-led tour and documentary screening.
  • Museum of the History of Medicine – interactive exhibition "Algorithms in the ward. From scalpel to machine learning" with installations and demos.
  • Physics Museum – themed route "Paths of peace" on the role of scientists in disarmament and international cooperation.
  • Other participating sites include: Museum of Origins, Zoology Museum, Herbarium Museum, MUST (University Museum of Earth Sciences) and the Anthropology Museum "Giuseppe Sergi".

Family activities

Child-focused and natural science museums will offer hands-on workshops, treasure hunts, herbarium-making and moulding activities designed to engage younger visitors with art and science.

  • Opening hours: campus openings from 15:00; evening events and concerts from 20:00; scheduled closing at 24:00.

  • Location: Piazzale Aldo Moro, 5 and Viale dell'Università, 38 (Sapienza campus), Rome
  • Parking: free within the campus

The European Night of Museums is an opportunity to discover cultural heritage in new settings: at Sapienza art, science and education come together in a program for all ages.
