Nino Springolo at Museo Bailo, Treviso: solo exhibition

For the 140th anniversary of his birth, the Museo Luigi Bailo presents a solo exhibition dedicated to Nino Springolo, on view until 1 November 2026. The public opening took place on 13 March 2026.

Curated by Fabrizio Malachin, director of the Treviso Civic Museums, the show gathers about one hundred works from public and private collections and traces Springolo's artistic development through thematic sections.

  • Four sections: Landscapes, Portraits, Still lifes and a final room titled "The Two Companions".
  • Style and influences: from early divisionist experiments and Cézanne's lessons to a personal naturalism with occasional near-naïf traits.
  • Artistic relationships: focused displays on Springolo's interaction with Gino Rossi and Arturo Martini and ties to Treviso's cultural milieu.

The exhibition is arranged for intimate viewing, favoring close observation and critical reading of works that map Springolo's interior research and technical evolution.

Curator's note: Fabrizio Malachin emphasizes that Springolo's paintings benefit from compact, contemplative spaces and that the current installation highlights the artist's significance within early 20th-century Venetian art.

The exhibition is hosted at the Museo Luigi Bailo, Borgo Cavour, Treviso.
