Nature and History at Santa Maria d'Agnano Park

During the May Day long weekend Ostuni offers a program for families and children that combines outdoor discovery, natural heritage and educational museum activities. Events take place at the Santa Maria d'Agnano Archaeological and Natural Park, the Museum of Preclassical Civilizations of the Southern Murgia, and the Diocesan Museum of Ostuni.

Program overview

• Friday, May 1, 10:00–13:00 – "Among Oaks and History: discovering the Park." A sensory guided walk in the Park focusing on biodiversity, oak-related myths and traditions, the archaeological area and the notable Grotta della Donna di Ostuni. The morning ends with a creative workshop to make a "tree identity card."
• Saturday, May 2, 16:00–18:00 – "A family 28,000 years ago" at the Museum of Preclassical Civilizations. A thematic route introducing adults and children to the Lady of Ostuni through a simple, participatory narrative, followed by a graphic workshop.
• Sunday, May 3, 16:00–18:00 – "A short journey through stories, curiosities and hidden corners" at the Diocesan Museum. Families explore selected works, including the figure of Sant'Oronzo and a wax Christ, with observation moments and a simple detail-search activity.

Who it's for

The activities are designed for a broad audience, especially families with children aged 4–12. Paths and workshops are engaging and accessible, encouraging curiosity and participation through play and direct experience.
