Natale di Roma 2026: monuments, guided tours and reenactments
To mark the 2779th anniversary of its founding, Rome presents a dense schedule of events focused on the city's monuments and historic sites. Main activities run from 19 to 22 April 2026 and include historical reenactments, free access to institutional palaces, military band concerts and themed museum programs.
Highlights
- Military band concerts: on 21 April at 17:30, Armed Forces bands perform across the historic centre (Capitoline Hill, Spanish Steps, Piazza San Silvestro, Piazza Pia, San Lorenzo in Lucina, Piazza di Pietra, Piazza di S. Ignazio).
- Free visits to Palazzo Senatorio: on 21 April guided access to the Aula Giulio Cesare at 16:30, 17:15, 18:00 and 18:45. Groups up to 30 people; entrance via Sisto IV near the Capitoline Wolf column. Reservation required by phone at 060608 (bookings open from 17 April at 10:00).
- Museum routes and guided tours: events between 19 and 22 April, including a presentation at Museo Casal De’ Pazzi (19 April, 10:00), a Quadraro street-art walk (21 April, 10:00), and guided visits at Mercati di Traiano, Museo Pietro Canonica, Museo Barracco, GAM and Museo di Roma in Trastevere.
- Historical reenactments: from 18 to 21 April the Gruppo Storico Romano stages events at key monuments (Pantheon, Circus Maximus, Roman Forums, Museum of Civilizations, National Roman Museum) including the Historical Parade (19 April), gladiator tournaments and public rituals. Many events are free.
- Roma World: the ancient Rome theme park near Cinecittà World hosts shows and activities from 18 to 21 April (gladiators, falconry displays, archery, ancient market and botanical tours).

- Recommended period: 19–22 April 2026 (some events begin on the preceding weekend, 18 April).
- Participation: many events are free; bookings are often required for guided visits (call 060608 for reservations).
- Access and groups: Palazzo Senatorio visits are limited to 30 people per slot; arrive a few minutes early at the indicated entrance.
