‘Leobaldo Traniello’ Prize to promote Polesine’s cultural heritage

The Leobaldo Traniello Prize has been announced by Italia Nostra – Rovigo in collaboration with Fondazione Cariparo. Named after the local scholar, the initiative aims to encourage territorial knowledge, engage young people in cultural research and foster stewardship of heritage assets.

The competition targets classes of secondary schools (upper level) in Rovigo and the province, combining written research with the production of short films through in-school workshops led by industry professionals.

• Goals: enhance local identity, stimulate research and cultivate responsibility for shared heritage.
• Participants: students of upper secondary schools in Rovigo and province.
• Project structure: teams produce a written story focused on a cultural asset, place, person or local tale; selected entries will be turned into a short audiovisual piece (fiction, documentary, animation or awareness campaign) during dedicated workshops.
• Partners: Italia Nostra, Fondazione Cariparo, supported by Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo.

Key dates communicated by the organisers:

• April 2026: publication of the call and distribution to schools.
• 1 October 2026: deadline for school enrolment.
• 1 February 2027: deadline for submission of written stories.
• February 2027: evaluation of entries and notification of results.
• March–April 2027: workshops for audiovisual production.
• May 2027: public presentation and awards event in Rovigo.
