On 10 April 2026 the Museo del Novecento in Milan presented a set of initiatives aimed at connecting its collections and contemporary art practice with the urban environment. These actions anticipate the upcoming expansion into the second tower of the Arengario.
Goal: to redefine the museum as an open, evolving threshold that balances historic holdings with contemporary research and interventions.
The museum director described the Novecento as a "threshold museum": a place that preserves contemplative engagement with its heritage while opening paths for contemporary research, including site-specific interventions by artists such as Maloberti, Remo Salvadori and Giuseppe Gabellone.
These initiatives aim to offer visitors a layered experience where historic works and contemporary projects together help read Milan’s visual landscape.
Practical note: the projects were announced on 10 April 2026. For opening times, ticketing and updates on the Arengario expansion, check the museum's official channels.
