Easter exhibitions: four recommendations

Over the Easter week several Italian exhibition venues are offering shows across different artistic disciplines. Below is a concise guide to the main exhibitions to plan visits and further study.

Turin — "Giovanni Antonio Bazzi called the Sodoma. Conquering the Renaissance"

From 31 March to 6 September, the Fondazione Occorsi Ometto presents more than 50 works documenting the painter's early production. The exhibition highlights his quest for a distinctive style shaped by varied influences and experiences.

Trieste — "A Sphinx Draws Him. Maximilian of Austria and Egyptian collections between Trieste and Vienna"

From 2 April to 1 November, the Scuderie of Miramare Castle display over 100 objects from the Egyptian-Oriental Collection of the Kunsthistorisches Museum, retracing 19th-century interest in Egyptology and the collecting practices linking Trieste and Vienna.

Modena — "Virtue and Grace. Women in Baroque painting"

Running from 3 April to 28 June at Galleria BPER, the exhibition examines the centrality of female figures in Baroque art across five thematic sections — devotion, myth, power, feeling — with works by Lucio Massari, Guido Cagnacci, Ludovico Carracci and others.

Florence — "High-Altitude Lights. A forty-year love letter on film" (Zhang Chaoyin)

On view until 15 May at Manifattura Tabacchi, Zhang Chaoyin's solo show features 60 photographs exploring plateaus, glaciers, geological formations and human communities, inviting reflection on time, memory and the human-landscape relationship.
