The Scuderie of Castello di Miramare in Trieste will host an international exhibition titled “Una sfinge l'attrae. Massimiliano d'Asburgo and the Egyptian collections between Trieste and Vienna”. On display from 2 April to 1 November 2026, the exhibition brings together roughly 100 objects that illustrate the history of the Egyptian collection associated with Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria.
The show reconstructs the collection’s story and highlights the transformation from private collecting to the institution of the modern museum. Displays and interpretative materials contextualize acquisitions, collecting intentions and the broader cultural exchanges that shaped the collection.
The exhibition features an educational calendar for schools of all levels, including workshops and guided learning paths designed to engage students with archaeological heritage. Public guided tours and outreach activities are also planned to combine education with cultural promotion.
