FAI Spring Days in Friuli Venezia Giulia: special monument openings
When: Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March 2026.
The FAI Spring Days return with exceptional visits to monuments, historic palaces and sites usually closed to the public. In Friuli Venezia Giulia, 8 municipalities participate with 18 select openings of historic, artistic and landscape interest.

Trieste
- Palazzo del Governo (former Palazzo della Luogotenenza): guided access to representative halls, the loggia overlooking Piazza Unità, the grand ballroom and the presidential study. Times: Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00. English tour on Saturday at 11:30 (no booking); Slovenian tour on Sunday at 11:00 (no booking).
- Palazzo Vivante: a notable example of residential architecture between the 18th and 20th centuries, featuring surviving 20th-century interiors and a painted cycle attributed to Alois Hans Schram. Times: Saturday 21 from 10:00 to 18:00; Sunday 22 from 14:00 to 18:00. English visit Saturday at 14:00; Slovenian visit Sunday at 14:00 (no booking).
- Greek-Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity and St. Nicholas (San Nicolò dei Greci): visits reserved for FAI members to explore the silver iconostasis and the history of Trieste's Greek community. Times: Saturday 21 at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00. Booking required via the local FAI Delegation channels.

Gorizia - Mossa
- Villa Codelli: a late 16th-century complex with manor house, chapel and folatoio, set in a terraced park. Ground-floor rooms and the church will be accessible, with walks in the park and exhibitions in the folador. Times: Saturday 21 March from 15:00 to 17:30; Sunday 22 March from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 17:30.
- Scuola dell'infanzia C. Collodi: exhibition on artist Tino Piazza with photos, writings and a large graffito by the artist. Times: Saturday 21 from 14:00 to 17:00; Sunday 22 from 10:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 17:00.
- Conference: Friday 20 March at 18:30, lecture on “Sacred art in Mossa” with historian Giulio Tavian (free entry; reservation recommended).

Udine and province
- The Udine Delegation offers four visits in Udine (including Palazzo Antonini Stringher, home of Fondazione Friuli), plus openings in Carnia and Torviscosa. Several activities involve the newly founded FAI Youth Group of Udine.
How to attend: practical tips
- Entry and bookings: some sites require mandatory booking while others admit visitors until capacity is reached. Check the local FAI Delegation's information before you go.
- Languages: guided tours in English and Slovenian are scheduled at selected sites; consult the specific slots listed above.
- Accessibility: historic buildings may present architectural barriers. Verify access conditions in advance.
- Arrival: arrive a few minutes early; popular openings can fill up quickly, so early arrival is recommended.
- Guided visits: most openings are led by volunteers, Apprendisti Ciceroni® and local groups who provide historical context and anecdotes about the sites.
