In 2026 Monumenti Aperti celebrates thirty years of activity. The initiative has grown from a local idea into a nationwide practice that opens historic buildings, palaces and monuments to the public through guided visits, stories and community events designed to bring heritage closer to people.

The program involves hundreds of historic sites across the country: more than 800 locations across 18 regions, with numerous municipalities and communities participating. The calendar runs from spring into autumn, offering recurring opportunities to explore places often off the usual tourist routes.

Perugia and other Umbrian towns will open both modest and major heritage sites—religious buildings, medieval corners and hidden treasures—making them accessible through free guided visits led by local volunteers and expert guides.
