Feedback. The Environments of Franco Vaccari — Museion, Bolzano

When: 28 March - 13 September 2026

Where: Museion, Bolzano

«Feedback. The Environments of Franco Vaccari» reconstructs a series of experiential spaces by the artist, designed so that the public becomes an integral element of the work. Curated by Frida Carazzato and Luca Panaro, the exhibition revives eight environments dating from 1968 to 2007, reconstructed using archival photographs, preparatory drawings and contemporary exhibition design.

Vaccari treated photography and technology as devices that produce feedback and register human traces: his installations function as triggers for behaviour, where physical and sensory engagement is essential to the artwork.

Highlights

  • Scultura buia (1968) — an environment focused on the absence of light to activate non-visual perceptions;
  • Sogni n.1 (1975) and Codemondo (1980) — works exploring dreamlike and uncanny dimensions;
  • Ambiente grigio multiuso (1987) — a flexible space adapted for collective experiences;
  • Mito Istantaneo (1974), Bar Code – Code Bar (1993) and Mini Cinema (2003) — installations that use technology to create participatory scenarios;
  • Biomassa (2007) — an ironic piece that symbolically measures the combined weight of visitors.

The reconstruction was informed by archival research and supported by Fosbury Architecture, aiming to preserve both the material character of the works and their immersive quality.
