Monumenti Aperti returns for its 30th edition: from April 18 to November 8, 2026, more than 800 historical sites in 85 Italian municipalities will be open to the public with guided tours, themed routes and activities for all ages.
The program starts in April in Cagliari and continues with a strong focus on Sardinia in May (over 60 municipalities involved). Subsequent stops include Quiliano (Liguria), Pinerolo (Piedmont), Benevento (Campania), Aymavilles (Aosta Valley), Palermo and Perugia, then resumes in autumn with events in Gravellona Toce, Bellinzago Novarese and cities such as Turin, Ferrara, Trieste, Rome, Venice, Treviso, Milan, Chieti, Bitonto and Campi Bisenzio.
The initiative promotes activities designed to involve diverse audiences and to make heritage access more inclusive. Main offerings include:
Born in Cagliari and grown over thirty years, Monumenti Aperti has engaged hundreds of municipalities, thousands of volunteers and students and millions of guided visits, bringing attention to both landmark and lesser-known heritage. The project emphasizes participation, collective memory and the social value of cultural assets.
Theme for the 30th edition: “Generazione Monumenti Aperti” — an invitation to build ties, memory and care for the territory through shared experiences.
