MIA Photo Fair 2026 in Milan: 'Metamorphosis' at the Heart of the Fair

MIA Photo Fair 2026: theme and dates

From 19 to 22 March 2026 Milan will host the MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas at Superstudio Più (Via Tortona). The 15th edition focuses on Metamorphosis, investigating technical, aesthetic and social transformations in contemporary photography.

Exhibition sections and highlights

• Main Section: central selection of national and international galleries.
• Beyond Photography – Dialogue (curated by Domenico de Chirico): examines boundaries between photography, painting, sculpture and video.
• Reportage Beyond Reportage (curated by Emanuela Mazzonis di Pralafera): documentary photography evolving into intimate narrative.
• Focus Latino (curated by Rischa Paterlini): Latin American and Iberian artists exploring Latinx identity.

New for this year are the Superstudio Photo Award, dedicated to young European talent, and the The Collectors.Chain Prize. The fair also marks the 15th anniversary of the BNL BNP Paribas Prize, accompanied by further awards supporting artistic research.

Galleries, artists and featured projects

• Galleria13: presents established names such as Nobuyoshi Araki and Daido Moriyama alongside Kenro Izu and rising artist Kazuaki Koseki (Summer Fairies series).
• Galleria Paola Colombari (stand C014): works by Anna Golubovskaja, Leo Matiz, Albert Watson, Riccardo Aichner, Marilù S. Manzini and Paola Pinna, linked by themes of transformation and temporal suspension.
• Prometeo Gallery (booth D024): contemporary projects including works by Regina José Galindo and others.
• THE POOL NYC (booth C021): Marco Lanza’s Ricreazione, a body of works that reconstructs vernacular photographs into new pieces.
• Tallulah Studio Art: Italian premiere of Phillip Toledano’s Another England, with a book signing on Thursday 19 March at 15:00 at the Tallulah stand.

Off-site program (Circuito OFF) and city shows

The Circuito OFF runs alongside the fair from 18 to 22 March with citywide exhibitions and events. Notable entries include:

• MyOwnGallery – Winter Light by Riccardo Fregoso: 18–22 March, 11:00–20:00, free entry. The show (17 photographs from 2018 onward) explores light as a transformative presence. Venue: Superstudio Più, Via Tortona 27bis.
• Additional galleries and spaces will offer talks, guided visits and site-specific projects during the fair period.

Education and cultural program

The program includes talks and masterclasses curated by sector professionals: seven lessons organized by Cucù Studio with Nicolas Ballario, dialogues on collecting by the Collezione Ettore Molinario, and editorial sessions focused on contemporary photographic publishing.
