The Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Rome presents a solo exhibition dedicated to Max Peiffer Watenphul, tracing his ties to the Bauhaus and the development of his painting through to his postwar work in Italy.
The exhibition reconstructs Watenphul’s artistic trajectory from his Bauhaus training to his travels and activities in Italy, and his later Venetian years. Highlights include his earliest oil from 1917 ("Grace with Cat"), Bauhaus-period watercolours such as "Still Life with Lemons" (1921), and later works like "View of Il Pero" (1970), as well as private letters and archival documents shown for the first time.
Visitor information: the route focuses on thematic phases of Watenphul’s career and his dialogues with Bauhaus masters and multidisciplinary experiments. For opening hours, ticket prices and guided tours, consult the official website of the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea.
