Mart Rovereto: anachronisms and disharmonies in recent Italian art

The Mart in Rovereto presents an exhibition that investigates how Italian artists from the last forty years engage with time, memory and the reinvention of historical visual languages. Curated by Margherita de Pilati and Ivan Quaroni, the show highlights works that deliberately position themselves out of sync with dominant historical timelines, mixing memory, myth and stylistic appropriations of the past.

Why see it:

  • It provides a critical perspective on the links between past and present in recent Italian art.
  • The selection ranges from painting to installation, illustrating both continuities and stylistic breaks.
  • It juxtaposes established figures and emerging artists, allowing visitors to trace thematic and formal threads across generations.

Selected artists: Sandro Chia, Enzo Cucchi, Francesco Clemente, Mimmo Paladino, Stefano Di Stasio, Omar Galliani, Paola Gandolfi, Carlo Maria Mariani, Marco Lodola, Umberto Postal, Salvo, Luigi Ontani, Aldo Mondino, Andrea Mastrovito, Giulia Andreani, Paolo Ventura, Francesco Vezzoli, Giuditta Branconi, Chiara Calore, Martina Cinotti (under 35).

Practical information: the exhibition is aimed at visitors interested in the interaction between iconographic memory and contemporary practices. Check the Mart's official channels for opening hours, ticket prices and calendar updates. Venue: Corso Bettini, 43, 38068 Rovereto (TN), Italy.
