From April 18 to May 16, 2026, Galleria Lombardi hosts the monographic exhibition Mario Schifano | Io guardo, curated by Lorenzo and Enrico Lombardi with a critical essay by Silvia Pegoraro. The gallery, located at via di Monte Giordano 40, presents this show concurrently with a large-scale retrospective at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, offering complementary views on the artist’s work.
The Galleria Lombardi exhibition offers a concise, rigorously selected itinerary spanning roughly thirty years of Schifano’s practice, from the early 1960s to the 1990s. About twenty works highlight the major themes and techniques of his investigation.
Born in 1934 and deceased in Rome in 1998, Mario Schifano is a central figure of Italy's late 20th-century art scene. After informal beginnings in the 1950s, he forged a personal language that engages with Pop Art and urban culture while preserving a manual, thoughtful practice.
Visitor information: check opening hours and ticketing with Galleria Lombardi and the Palazzo delle Esposizioni. Together the two exhibitions provide a fuller picture of Schifano’s trajectory, from his use of media images to the pictorial matter of his later work.
