From 30 April 2026 to 28 February 2027 the Palazzo dei Musei, Reggio Emilia presents an exhibition devoted to Luigi Ghirri that investigates the interplay between photography and music. Curated by Ilaria Campioli and Andrea Tinterri with musical curation by Giulia Cavaliere, the show—part of the Fotografia Europea festival—combines photographs, archival material and original audio content.
The exhibition builds on the museum’s permanent photographic section dedicated to Ghirri and offers a thematic re-examination of his work centred on the connection between sight and hearing.
The itinerary is organised in three main sections:
As part of Fotografia Europea, a special focus is installed in the octagonal hall of the Teatro Valli—open until 14 June 2026—featuring classic record covers and archival photographs documenting the city’s theatrical life.
Audio and written materials curated by Giulia Cavaliere accompany the exhibition: interviews, essays and recordings designed to encourage a listening-based visit that complements the visual experience.
Practical details:
For opening hours, tickets and guided visits consult the museum’s official channels. The exhibition is recommended for visitors interested in the intersections between sound, archival memory and photographic practice.
