Lugo — “Trees” by Isacco Emiliani: photographic exhibition at the Pescherie

When: 19–31 May 2026. Where: Pescherie della Rocca estense, Largo del Tricolore 1, Lugo (RA), Italy.

The "Trees" exhibition presents 40 night images of monumental trees in the Bassa Romagna area, produced over seven years and after 132 night sorties. The photographs highlight the presence, resilience and vulnerability of these landscape guardians.

Vernissage and main program

Vernissage: Tuesday 19 May at 6:00 PM featuring a conversation between photographer Isacco Emiliani and scholar Valido Capodarca. The evening continues at 8:30 PM with "The 5,000-Year Olive", a talk by Marina Barham (Al Harah Theatre, Bethlehem) about theatre as a space for connection and renewal.

Side events

• Friday 22 May, 6:00 PM: preview of the Lugo Music Festival with the presentation of the 2026 program.
• Tuesday 26 May, 8:00–11:00 PM: "Night Vision" workshop led by Isacco Emiliani (limited places; booking required).
• Thursday 28 May: children's workshop "The Man with the Green Coat" with illustrator Irene Penazzi (4:30 PM and 6:00 PM); 9:00 PM book talk "The Buddhist Sparrow" with author Tiziano Fratus in conversation with Rosella Ghedini.
• Sunday 31 May: 11:00 AM chamber quartet concert "Maple, Fir, Ebony"; 4:00 PM guided photographic walk "Along the Canale dei Molini" with Elena Ghini.

Visiting hours and youth activities

The exhibition is open on weekdays from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM; on public holidays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Additionally, from 18 May to 18 June the Biblioteca Trisi Ragazzi area hosts "Magic Trees", a children's display featuring work by school classes involved in an educational project on trees and the landscape.

About the photographer: Isacco Emiliani (Faenza, b.1991) develops visual and audiovisual projects focused on sustainability and environmental protection. After international fieldwork, he returned to Romagna to shine a light on a less-known but valuable natural heritage through nocturnal photography.
