Lino Tardia – Mediterranean Echoes

From 20 to 29 May 2026, Galleria Angelica in Rome presents "Mediterranean Echoes", an exhibition tracing the artistic journey of Lino Tardia, an important figure in late 20th-century Italian art. Curated by Francesco Ciaffi and organized by Edarcom Europa with the artist's family, the show gathers paintings and material works that emphasize recurring themes in Tardia's practice: memory, myth and Mediterranean roots.

The selection highlights the artist's stylistic development — from early Sicilian landscapes to compositions incorporating vinyl materials and gold leaf — revealing both his figurative foundations and his later material and sculptural experiments applied to canvas.

Artist profile

Born in Trapani in 1938, Lino Tardia trained at the Rome Academy of Fine Arts and developed a language that moves between realism, new figuration and material experimentation. Early experiences, including archaeological work at Mozia, and a deep connection to Mediterranean culture inform recurring themes such as memory and myth, expressed in works that combine painting with sculptural interventions.

This exhibition is an opportunity to follow the trajectory of an artist who actively contributed to the Italian and international art scene from the late 1950s onwards.
