Starting on 10 April 2026, the Museo Navale in Imperia presents a temporary installation by artist Bertrand Cazenave. Titled Les mers veilleuses, the work features 500 floating jellyfish handcrafted using only recovered materials sourced from local waste.
The suspended sculptures evoke the fragile beauty of marine environments while drawing attention to the impact of plastic pollution and the proliferation of species such as jellyfish — often a sign of ecological imbalance. The installation is part of activities connected to the Sea Day and uses art as a means to promote environmental awareness.
The project follows a zero-impact approach: each piece is created from discarded materials to transform plastic waste into a visible, poetic — and unsettling — reminder of its persistence. The installation aims to combine aesthetic experience with a clear call to action on microplastics and marine conservation.
In collaboration with the Delfini del Ponente Association, the exhibition is accompanied by talks and awareness activities focused on the protection of marine and coastal ecosystems, featuring contributions from marine biologists and local experts to engage the public on everyday actions that affect biodiversity.
Practical information: check Museo Navale opening times and the schedule of workshops or talks planned during the exhibition. The installation is suitable for a wide audience and offers educational opportunities for schools and families interested in environmental and artistic themes.
