Lecco School: €108,924 raised for a school in Gaza

The local group Coordinamento Lecchese Stop al Genocidio reported to the Circolo ARCI Promessi Sposi the financial and activity update of Lecco School, the community initiative that funded the construction and running of a masonry school in the Al‑Nuseirat refugee camp.

• Amount raised: €108,924 allocated to infrastructure, teaching materials and support services.
• Facility: masonry school inaugurated on 1 January 2026 and expanded in March, with classrooms, sanitary facilities and outdoor space for activities.
• Students: about 100 pupils enrolled in the Palestinian curriculum.
• Educational offer: Arabic, mathematics, English, psychological support, art workshops, music, puppet theatre, dabke dance and journalism courses.
• Related activities: recreational days, daily food distribution and film workshops; new fundraising will be managed via the Chuffed platform.

Speakers at the event highlighted education as a form of resilience and retraced the project’s development, which began with a tent-school in October 2024 and led to a permanent structure aimed at providing continuous education and family support services.
