Spazio COMEL in Latina presents a solo exhibition by Sicilian artist Claudio Sapienza, featuring a selection of recent works focused on the interplay between nature and time. The pieces, executed on materials such as jute canvas, wood and aluminum, integrate natural elements — including volcanic ash — creating textured surfaces where color and nature interact.
The show includes painting, assemblages and site-specific installations in which material becomes both language and memory: delicate motifs like butterflies coexist with signs evoking geological processes and long-term transformations of the earth.
Why visit: the installation allows an up-close experience of how Sapienza uses natural matter to produce images that examine the human–environment relationship.
Artist note: Born in Catania in 1981, Claudio Sapienza works across painting, assemblage and site-specific projects. His practice draws on the volcano-influenced Sicilian environment and investigates the bond between humans and nature. He has exhibited in national and international venues and participated in fairs and art events.
Recommended for: contemporary art lovers, visitors interested in material-based practices and site-specific experimentation, and anyone curious about art that dialogues with landscape and geology.
