Swiss ambassador visits Modena City Hall

On Tuesday 19 May, the Municipality of Modena hosted Roberto Balzaretti, Swiss Ambassador to Italy, who was received by Deputy Mayor Francesca Maletti for an informal meeting aimed at mutual understanding and dialogue with the local area.

The Swiss delegation, part of a broader institutional tour including Piacenza, Parma and Bologna, toured the historic rooms and the municipal Acetaia, key symbols of the city’s cultural and economic identity.

• Swiss delegation: Consul General Stefano Lazzarotto, Stefan Zwicky (Swiss Business Hub Italy), cultural attaché Valentina Torri and communications collaborator Daphne Marcon.
• Hosts and guides: Deputy Mayor Francesca Maletti and municipal official Giovanni Bertugli accompanied the visit.
• Cultural highlight: introduction to Modena’s “black gold” led by Maurizio Fini, Grand Master of the Aceto Balsamico Consorteria.

The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere and provided an opportunity to deepen institutional ties, economic cooperation and cultural initiatives between Switzerland and the Modena area. The ambassador also expressed solidarity with the local community following a recent serious incident in the city.
