Laino Borgo 2026: 7th Field Excavation at S. Gada for Students and Early-Career Researchers

From 1 to 27 June 2026, the archaeological site of S. Gada in Laino Borgo will host a field excavation campaign aimed at providing students and early-career researchers with practical experience in archaeological fieldwork and artefact study.

The programme is part of academic activities in Mediterranean archaeology and is coordinated by the University of Messina in partnership with local cultural authorities. The scientific director is Professor Fabrizio Mollo.

• Period: 1–27 June 2026, arranged in two fortnightly sessions.
• Main activities: stratigraphic excavation, graphic and photographic recording, classification workshops and study of movable finds.
• Credits: 2 CFU for each week of participation.
• Benefits: free lodging and packed lunch provided by the Municipality of Laino Borgo.

Eligible participants include undergraduate students in Humanities or Archaeology, master's students, graduates, postgraduate trainees and doctoral candidates in archaeology-related fields.
