At M9 in Mestre, the management of the Shanghai Tower presented the concept of a "vertical city" to an audience of 120 people, outlining opportunities for companies, cultural institutions, tourism and sports. The initiative was framed as a way to strengthen connections between Venice and Shanghai while drawing on centuries-old links.
Pan Jing, deputy general manager of Shanghai Tower operations, emphasized invitations to Italian businesses and cultural bodies to consider investments, host events and use the tower as a platform for joint initiatives. Piergiorgio Baroldi referred to the establishment of the Venice-China Act committee following a mission to Shanghai, aimed at fostering new collaborations.
Local relevance: organizers described the project as an opportunity to link metropolitan skylines with Italian experiential routes, focusing on cultural exchange, experiential tourism and shared sporting initiatives.
