Shanghai Tower at M9: building ties between Venice and Shanghai

At M9 in Mestre, the management of the Shanghai Tower presented the concept of a "vertical city" to an audience of 120 people, outlining opportunities for companies, cultural institutions, tourism and sports. The initiative was framed as a way to strengthen connections between Venice and Shanghai while drawing on centuries-old links.

• Building: 632 metres tall, with offices, cultural venues, restaurants and hotel spaces.
• Capacity: reported ability to host up to 16,000 people daily.
• Sporting event: the "vertical marathon" (3,398 steps to more than 550 metres) presented as an international draw.

Pan Jing, deputy general manager of Shanghai Tower operations, emphasized invitations to Italian businesses and cultural bodies to consider investments, host events and use the tower as a platform for joint initiatives. Piergiorgio Baroldi referred to the establishment of the Venice-China Act committee following a mission to Shanghai, aimed at fostering new collaborations.
