Culture as an Investment: BCC Mediocrati Supports Valorisation of the Cedro of Calabria

BCC Mediocrati financed, within the Bibliobanca project, the promotion of the volume "Melon, Citrus, Cedro? A documentary dossier on a plant with an ancient tradition" by Dr. Gianbattista Sollazzo. The support aims to strengthen historical and cultural knowledge of the Cedro of Calabria and to promote the territorial identities linked to the Riviera dei Cedri.

• The book: a documentary dossier reconstructing historical and cultural sources on the cedro, with specific references to Calabria and the upper Tyrrhenian area of Cosenza.
• Support: funding by BCC Mediocrati to promote the work and recognize its socio-economic and cultural value.
• Institutional partners: the project received backing from the Regional Department of Agriculture of Calabria and ARSAC for publication.
• Next steps: a public presentation of the work is being organized to explore development paths and territorial valorisation, including prospects related to the DOP designation for the Cedro di Santa Maria del Cedro.

BCC Mediocrati frames the initiative as an example of a community bank investing in both the economy and the cultural and human capital of the region, with potential positive effects on cohesion, attractiveness and local development.
