“Interpreting Landscapes. Another Italy” by Giulio D’Ercole in Todi

Opening: Friday, 29 May, 18:30. Venue: ArtEX Workshop Gallery, Nido dell’Aquila, Todi.

The gallery hosts the photographic exhibition Interpreting Landscapes. Another Italy, curated by Diana Daneluz. The show features forty large-format photographs that examine landscapes across four Italian regions — Trentino-Alto Adige, Tuscany, Umbria and Puglia — aiming to move beyond tourist clichés and to reveal the complexity and latent tension of these places.

D’Ercole’s images avoid postcard views: they trace intimate atmospheres, capture light and air qualities that already tell a story before the shutter clicks, and wait for the moment when the landscape discloses itself fully.

  • Exhibition period: from 29 May to 14 June
  • Visiting days and hours: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11:00–13:00 and 17:00–19:00
  • Admission: free
  • Curator: Diana Daneluz
  • Works on display: 40 large-format photographs

Artist synopsis: born in Rome in 1961, Giulio D’Ercole is a photographer and documentary maker. He graduated in Humanities and pursued scriptwriting at UCLA and broadcasting at New York University. He worked as a producer for Rai Corporation in New York and carried out projects for UN agencies and NGOs in Africa, founding Canvas Africa Productions. Back in Italy in 2014, he teaches photography at Pantheon Technology and Design in Rome and founded Rome Photo Fun Tours. Since 2022 he has lived in Todi, continuing his photographic research with a social documentary and human-portrait approach, focused on the patient moment of revelation.

Practical info: the opening on 29 May is the main opportunity to meet the curator and the artist; for later visits follow the indicated schedule. Entry is free.
