Maggio Museale and European Night of Museums 2026 at Polo Museale – Sapienza Cultura
When: Saturday 23 May 2026 – free entry and parking from 15:00 to 24:00. A day of guided tours, exhibitions, educational workshops and live performances across Sapienza’s museum venues.
Below are the main events and opening hours for the Polo Museale – Sapienza Cultura sites (city campus: P.le Aldo Moro, 5 and Viale dell’Università, 38, Rome).
- Museum of Etruscan and Italic Antiquities (MAEI) – open 15:00-24:00. Opening of the exhibition Etruscan Blue, Etruscan Gold at 18:00. Evening guided tours at 21:00, 22:00 and 23:00. Children’s workshops: Puzzle etrusco and Indecifrabile? Writing in Etruscan. Seminar and an evocative concert-performance dedicated to Etruscan culture.
- Museum of Geography – open 15:30-24:00. Exhibition Geografie Sonore with continuous guided visits from 18:00 to 22:00. Two children’s workshops on mountain models and storytelling for young readers.
- “Giuseppe Sergi” Museum of Anthropology – open 18:00-23:00. Guided tours at 21:00 and 22:00. Family-friendly workshop Meet the Ancestor, tracing key stages of human evolution.
- Museum-Laboratory of Contemporary Art (MLAC) – open 15:00-24:00. Solo retrospective Alì Assaf. Works 1973-2011 with a curator-led visit at 18:00. Children’s workshop Paper Windows from 15:00; evening screening and performance by the artist.
- Museum of Origins – open 15:30-24:00. New prehistoric displays including wooden artifacts from the Ledro pile-dwelling (Bronze Age). Guided tours 22:00-23:00. Workshops Life of a Hunter-Gatherer and A Day as an Archaeologist.
- Comparative Anatomy Museum “Battista Grassi” – open 18:00-24:00. Guided tours at 19:00, 20:30 and 22:00; educational activities by reservation.
- Herbarium Museum – open 15:00-24:00. Evening workshop The Herbarium’s Treasures at 22:30.
- Merceology Museum – open 15:00-19:00. Continuous guided visits and a creative children’s workshop Invisible Weaves: create and discover your tapestry in two slots at 15:30 and 17:30.
- Zoology Museum – open 15:00-24:00. Continuous guided visits and activities tailored to families and school groups.
