Wearing History: the panoply of the Italic peoples

From 8 May 2026 to 6 January 2027 the Museo Civico di Rieti (Archaeological Section) presents the exhibition "Wearing History. Before Rome: the mark of the sword, the weight of the shield." The show examines the practical use, manufacturing techniques and symbolic meaning of weapons and armor among Italic communities.

Original artifacts are displayed alongside scientific reproductions to clarify materials, decorative motifs and structural solutions. The layout is designed to offer both a technical and cultural reading, highlighting craftsmanship and the practical functions of the pieces.

Interpretive panels and educational routes help non-specialist visitors understand the social and ritual contexts in which spears, swords, shields and armor were used.
