The Verano Monumental Cemetery in Rome opens its monumental complex with a schedule of free guided tours that highlight history, art and memory across its funerary monuments and green spaces. Events take place on weekends in May, with an additional session on 2 June 2026.
Tours cover a variety of themes: historical itineraries retracing episodes from the Unification of Italy and the First World War, literary routes following notable cultural figures, music and cinema-focused visits, and artistic walks showcasing sculptures and funerary monuments.
For the first time, bicycle tours are included to explore the Verano’s more than 80 hectares.
These visits are a practical way to experience the Verano as a place of memory, art and urban landscape—suitable for history buffs, architecture lovers and anyone curious about Rome’s cultural heritage.
