Wearing History: weaponry and armor of the Italic peoples

From 8 May 2026 to 6 January 2027 the Civic Museum of Rieti (archaeology section) presents the exhibition "Wearing History. Before Rome: the mark of the sword, the weight of the shield." The display contrasts original artifacts with scientifically accurate reproductions to clarify construction techniques, decorations and practical functions.

The exhibition showcases spears, swords, shields and armor elements used by Italic communities, highlighting:

  • technological development and materials;
  • craftsmanship and decorative solutions;
  • the symbolic and social or ritual roles of the objects.
