Il Sodoma on display at the Fondazione Accorsi-Ometto in Turin

From 31 March to 6 September 2026, the Fondazione Accorsi-Ometto in Turin hosts the exhibition "Giovanni Antonio Bazzi called il Sodoma – Conquering the Renaissance", bringing together more than fifty works by the artist active between the 15th and 16th centuries.

Curated by Serena D'Italia, Luca Mana and Vittorio Natale, the exhibition focuses on Sodoma's early production and traces the artistic experiences that shaped his distinctive language.

What to expect

• Over fifty works, including paintings and studies, some previously unpublished or not publicly displayed.
• An emphasis on early phases: influences from Giovanni Martino Spanzotti’s workshop and notable fresco cycles in the Sienese area.
• Loans from private collections and institutions such as the Pinacoteca di Brera, Accademia Carrara (Bergamo), Musée Jacquemart-André (Paris) and major Turin museums.

The exhibition reconstructs Sodoma's artistic journey—from Lombard and Sienese experiences to Roman commissions—and offers a rare chance to study lesser-known works that reveal how he developed a personal Renaissance idiom.
