The Kingdom of Italy returns to Monza: the Savoy collection at the Belvedere

From April 17 to September 20 the Belvedere of Villa Reale in Monza hosts a major exhibition dedicated to the history of the Kingdom of Italy. The show displays the Savoy collection assembled by Vincenzo Panza, with contributions from Fabrizio Bava and executive management by Samantha Ceccardi.

What to see

The exhibition uses the generous spaces of the Belvedere to guide visitors through key historical phases from the Napoleonic period to the referendum of June 2, 1946. Highlights include:

  • Busts and portraits — including a bust of Napoleon and portraits of the House of Savoy;
  • Original uniforms and sculptures from the era;
  • Furnishings and memorabilia such as a Savoy throne and personal items linked to Queen Margherita;
  • Autographed documents and everyday objects that recreate the social and political context of the times.

Curatorship and symbolic value

Choosing the Villa Reale in Monza as the venue underscores the site's historical connection with the Savoy dynasty and creates an appropriate setting for a narrative that blends history, architecture and memory. The exhibition aims to make historical artifacts accessible and meaningful to the wider public.

Tickets and audience

  • Full price: €12
  • Reduced: €10 (ages 14–26), also valid for holders of same-day Villa Reale tickets, FAI members and Musei Lombardia subscribers;
  • School groups: €6 per student;
  • Groups: €8 per person (minimum 10 people).

The exhibition is suitable for a broad audience—history enthusiasts, students, families and scholars—offering layers of content for varying levels of interest.
