On Tuesday, 27 January 2026 at 17:30, a press conference was held in the Sala “Caduti di Nassirya” at Palazzo Madama to present the book dedicated to the Palacio de Abrantes, the seat of the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid.
Edited by professors Calogero Bellanca and Susana Mora Alonso-Munoyerro, the volume is part of a series on Italian Embassies and Residences directed by Ambassador Gaetano Cortese. Based on archival research, it traces the building’s history from property transfers to its institutional role.
For the Monuments category, the Palacio de Abrantes exemplifies how historic residences evolve into active cultural sites while preserving their heritage value. The book provides useful material for researchers and visitors interested in institutional history, architecture and conservation.
If you plan to visit Madrid, check the Italian Cultural Institute’s official channels for opening times and event schedules: many public activities take place inside the palace, offering direct access to its historical and monumental features.
