GAM of Golasecca: 40 Years and Entry into the Italian Museums System

The GAM – Golasecca Archeology Multimedia museum celebrates its 40th anniversary with a major institutional milestone: accreditation within the Italian Museums System. Following a multimedia upgrade in 2019 and regional recognition as a Raccolta Museale, the museum presents a schedule of events and new displays aimed at the community and schools.

Event program

  • May 17, 3:00 PM – In Piazza Libertà, students from the municipal youth council will officially open the exhibition "Rinascite" and a new display in the museum's vitrines. The show traces history from Etruscan to Roman times, highlighting Golasecca culture artefacts that reflect craftsmanship and funerary practices.
  • May 19, morning (9:45 AM) – Visit by Lombardy President Attilio Fontana, including the unveiling of three plaques thanking regional funders for investments used to upgrade community facilities: the nursery school, the playground, and the municipal building safety works.

The mayor, Claudio Ventimiglia, emphasizes the exhibitions' educational purpose: a collaboration between the Centre for Prehistoric and Archaeological Studies and the Superintendency to make each object's history accessible to a diverse, multi-generational audience. The celebrations also symbolically hand this local cultural heritage to future generations.
