Autore: Redazione 28/03/2026 01:34

Adelaide Castle opens the 2026 season

Adelaide Castle in Susa presents the exhibition "The Savoys: A Thousand Years of History and Power", on view from April 3 to May 24, 2026. Curated by Stefano Paschero and Claude Duffur, the show is the result of a partnership with the French association Savoie.live from Annecy and brings notable transalpine artifacts to Italy for the first time.

The display is organized into six thematic sections that highlight the historical significance of the House of Savoy, beginning with the alliance between Adelaide of Susa and Oddone of Savoy—an episode that helped open European horizons to the dynasty. More than forty original items are exhibited, including medieval seals, legal codices and historic weapons, which together with the Civic Museum's permanent collection create a cohesive narrative of local and European history.

What to see and why it matters

The exhibition integrates transalpine loans with Susa’s permanent holdings—17th-century maps, Risorgimento documents and other local records—offering visitors a layered view of how Savoyard power developed in the valley and beyond.
