The Pugnaloni are large panels made with petals, leaves and other natural materials: ephemeral artworks created by local volunteer groups for the Madonna del Fiore celebration. The event blends religious ritual with popular art, turning the historic center into an open-air exhibition.
Date: third Sunday of May 2026 (17 May 2026). This day hosts the main displays of the floral panels and the religious ceremonies.
The festival provides an authentic glimpse of village life: tradition, devotion and collective creativity set within Acquapendente’s historic environment. Besides the Pugnaloni, the cathedral and medieval streets enrich the visit.
Acquapendente sits in the Tuscia area, near the borders of Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany. Traveling by car is usually the easiest option; trains and buses are available but require timetable checks. During the festival, park outside the historic core and explore on foot.
The Pugnaloni suit visitors who appreciate local traditions, authentic villages and craft photography. Families and slow-travelers will also enjoy the relaxed pace.
