Tenuta Dello Scompiglio in Vorno (Capannori, Lucca) presents Danse Macabre, a solo exhibition by Belgian artist Hans Op de Beeck curated by Angel Moya Garcia. The show runs from 11 April to 25 October 2026, with an opening event scheduled on the first day.
The exhibition combines two main elements: a title site-specific installation and the animated film Vanishing Point. Visitors enter a monochrome black-and-white landscape composed of leafless trees, bodies of water and a sinuous path that leads to a full-scale carousel rendered as a frozen sculptural object.
The carousel, stripped of color and movement, functions as a symbol of memory and transience: its petrified appearance suggests the aftermath of celebrations, abandoned amusements and a post-event quiet. Surrounding details — carriages, horses, skeletal figures and scattered domestic objects — evoke the classical theme of memento mori and a monumental still life.
The installation is accompanied by a soundscape created by Sam Vloemans and performed by the Hermes Ensemble, which leads visitors toward the film presentation. Vanishing Point completes the exhibition's reflections: the title references the perspective point of convergence and metaphorically signals a passage from measurable reality to more ambiguous imaginative realms.
