Dates: April 10 – October 4, 2026. Gres Art 671 presents Museum Dreams, the first major Italian retrospective devoted to Isaac Julien, an internationally acclaimed visual artist working across moving image, dance, photography and installation.
Curated by Nathan Ladd and conceived for the architectural layout of the Bergamo venue, the exhibition brings together five large-scale installations spanning over three decades of Julien's practice. Visitors are encouraged to move freely through audiovisual works, sculptures, photographs and archival materials, experiencing a sensory and critical investigation of image, memory and cultural institutions.
Main installations on display
Julien's works dismantle and rethink the museum's role and its architecture, turning exhibition spaces into active components of the viewing experience. The presentation aims to create a visual language that interrupts linear narratives and encourages a mobile, immersive mode of engagement.
Practical information
Visit tips: allow enough time to move between installations and observe how image, sound and architecture interact; the filmic nature of the works often rewards multiple viewpoints to fully appreciate their complexity.
