AIGU received at the Quirinale: 'The Next 10' delivered to support Italy's UNESCO Sites

On 23 March 2026 a delegation from the Italian Youth Association for UNESCO (AIGU) was received at the Quirinale Palace. The meeting with the President's Diplomatic Adviser, Ambassador Fabio Cassese, focused on the association’s goals and ongoing projects aimed at protecting Italy’s cultural heritage and UNESCO-listed sites.

The delegation officially presented the Decennial Document, 'The Next 10', a programmatic manifesto containing concrete proposals to safeguard, promote and involve younger generations in the stewardship of UNESCO heritage in Italy.

  • Delegation: President Gianluca Buoncore, Vice President Eleonora Vita, Secretary General Alessandro Luciani, Treasurer Silvio Rossini.
  • Main aims: strengthen protection of UNESCO sites, increase youth engagement, develop local projects and training programmes.
  • Expected outcomes: convert proposals into tangible initiatives for local communities, cultural institutions and tourism operators connected to UNESCO heritage.

Practical note for cultural operators and visitors: the document highlights operational priorities (training, participatory projects, communication) that can help reinforce conservation and sustainable enjoyment of Italy’s UNESCO sites.
