On 23 May 2026 a unitary conference titled "Grotta Paglicci – Heritage of Humanity" will be held in Rignano Garganico. This event marks the start of a renewed effort to promote and protect the Paleolithic site, supporting its bid for UNESCO World Heritage status and the reopening of the local museum.

The site represents an exceptional record of prehistoric life: excavations have produced more than 45,000 finds spanning roughly 500,000 to 11,000 years ago.
