Golasecca: GAM marks four decades of the Antiquarium

The museum in Golasecca, now operating as GAM – Golasecca Archeologia Multimediale, celebrates its 40th anniversary with a program of exhibitions, public events and institutional moments. Following a 2019 multimedia upgrade and recognition as a Raccolta museale by Regione Lombardia in December 2025, GAM has been accredited within the national Musei italiani system.

Opening exhibition: "Rinascite" (May 17)

The celebrations begin with the exhibition Rinascite, inaugurated on Sunday, May 17 at 15:00. Installed in the museum's new display cases, the show offers a chronological journey from the Etruscan period to the Roman era, with a special focus on the Golasecca Culture and artifacts that document everyday life and funerary rituals of the local Celtic communities.

The exhibition was developed in collaboration with research centers and heritage authorities, emphasizing educational value and accessibility for visitors of all ages. During the afternoon the museum will also present issue 39 of the journal Sibrium, collecting papers from recent study days held in memory of Mario Bertolone.

Institutional ceremony (May 19)

The program continues on Tuesday, May 19 with a morning meeting starting at 9:45, attended by the President of Regione Lombardia, Attilio Fontana. Three plaques will be unveiled to acknowledge regional funding that supported local projects, including the refurbishment of a kindergarten, improvements to a playground and safety upgrades to the municipal building.

The mayor highlighted the symbolic importance of the celebrations as a civic handover to new administrations and generations, underlining the intention to preserve and pass on Golasecca's cultural heritage.
