The Fondazione Accorsi‑Ometto in Turin hosts a comprehensive exhibition dedicated to Giovanni Antonio Bazzi, known as the Sodoma, presenting a reconstructed itinerary of the artist’s development from his early years in Piedmont to his Roman period.
Dates: 31 March – 6 September 2026
Venue: Fondazione Accorsi‑Ometto, Turin
The show brings together more than fifty works, including previously unseen pieces. The display traces key moments in Sodoma’s career:
Major loans arrive from national and international collections: examples include the Pinacoteca di Brera, Galleria Borghese, the Vatican Museums, the Capitoline Picture Gallery and the Accademia Carrara. The exhibition also features works by regional contemporaries — Macrino d’Alba, Gaudenzio Ferrari, Eusebio Ferrari and Gerolamo Giovenone — to highlight cultural exchanges between Northern and Central Italy at the turn of the 16th century.
This exhibition is an important opportunity to reassess Sodoma’s stylistic range and experimental phases, shedding light on lesser‑known moments of his oeuvre and the networks that carried him from Piedmont to Rome. It is essential viewing for scholars and enthusiasts of Renaissance art and museum collections.
Practical tip: check the foundation’s website for opening hours, ticketing and guided‑visit options before planning your visit.
