FAI Spring Days: what to see in Moretta and Cherasco

During the weekend of 21–22 March 2026 the Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI) opens numerous sites across Italy. In the Cuneo area this is a chance to visit monuments, historic townhouses and archives that are not always accessible to the public.

Sites open and practical times

• Castello della Manta – open Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00, departures every 30 minutes.
• Santuario della Beata Vergine del Pilone (Moretta) – a fine example of Piedmontese Baroque situated in a landscaped complex with a porch. Opening hours: Saturday 15:00–17:00; Sunday 10:00–12:00 and 14:00–17:00, visits every 60 minutes. The Historical Archive on the first floor will be accessible only to FAI members.
• Moretta Town Hall and Council Chamber – guided visits include Palazzo Pignatta and the exterior of the medieval castle; times: Saturday 14:00–17:00, Sunday 9:30–12:00 and 14:00–17:00 (meeting point in the main square).
• Cherasco – sites open Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 without reservation: Sant'Agostino church (baroque gem), the Town Hall (result of two medieval buildings merged), the Historical Archive (documents from 1243 to the 20th century) and Palazzo Gotti di Salerano, temporarily opened for the event while being reconfigured. A city tour is also available; meet at the welcome desk in front of the Tourist Office, via Vittorio Emanuele II, 79.

Visitor information

• Tickets & bookings: many visits do not require booking; check the FAI website for the full list and to reserve where needed.
• Accessibility: historical buildings may have limited accessibility; check restrictions in advance.
• Guides: volunteers and FAI apprentice guides will lead the visits.
• Tip: arrive a few minutes early at meeting points, especially for timed slots with limited capacity.
