Location: MACC - Museo d'Arte Contemporanea del Carmine, Piazza Busacca 9, Scicli (RG), Italy.
Dates: from 18 May to 1 November 2026. Opening (vernissage) on 18/05/2026.
The MACC presents a major display dedicated to Giorgio de Chirico, a leading figure of Metaphysical painting. The exhibition arranges roughly 50 works by the artist in dialogue with contemporary photographs, offering a layered reading of his visual language. Photographers included are Giovanni Chiaramonte, Giuseppe Leone, Pino Ninfa and Armando Rotoletti.
- Curator: Lorenzo Canova
- Period: 18/05/2026 – 01/11/2026
- Works on show: approximately 50 pieces highlighting metaphysical themes
- Photographic contribution: images that echo and reflect de Chirico's atmospheres
- Exhibition aim: to investigate the connection between de Chirico's imagery and Sicily — from Mediterranean light to baroque architecture
The layout is designed to show how light, deserted squares and architectural volumes feed the artist’s metaphysical vision. Photographic works act as a "real mirror" of those visions, conveying the sense of mystery and suspended time often found in de Chirico's painting.
Practical info: the show is on view at the museum in Piazza Busacca. Check the museum's official channels for opening hours, ticketing and guided visit options.
